What to Look For in a Trucking Company

To understand the trucking industry, we first need to understand the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears.

If you’ve never heard this age-old fairy tale, you really need to hear its prime takeaway. I’m not at all exaggerating when I say that Goldilocks is the most important fairy tale for both living a happier life and building a more effective business.

For trucking companies, it’s often difficult to determine what their customers want the most. Top-of-the-line services? Cheap and affordable services that risk their product’s safety?

It’s difficult to really put your finger on what is “just right” for a trucking company, but we’re going to unpack this here.

Cost Isn’t Everything

Too often, newer business owners get obsessed with pricing their services.

Some are focused on exploiting their customers in the best way possible for them, and concern for their customers goes out the window.

At the same time, other business owners are focused on the opposite: they’re focused on giving their customers the cheapest, best experience possible.

This is how you get McDonald’s and Ruth’s Steakhouse on the same street, offering completely different services for completely different prices.

As a trucking company, you can’t afford to think like this.

Quality Over Quantity

At Legacy, we work with a wide variety of different businesses, and while the cost of the service is important to all of our clients, there’s one thing that’s able to transcend cost: quality service and on-time deliveries.

Our services are designed to the best of our abilities to both get products shipped efficiently and quietly, but also to do so safely for our drivers and employees. Their safety only optimizes your and our productivity.

Efficiency is not about maximizing profits, it’s about maximizing quality. This is what leads to a true maximization of profit over time.

If you’re working at an unstable rate to maximize short-term profit, your trucking company is going to burn out or fizzle out over time or in the face of adversity.

Our Story

Legacy has been in the trucking game for nearly a decade now, and we’ve slowly grown from a company with just 2 trucks to more than 150 all around the United States.

In 2019, we won the Amazon Fleet Management award. We’ve been working with Amazon for several years now, and in that time we’ve climbed the ranks and become one of their top carriers in the United States. This is a huge honor for us.

Fleet management is the ultimate test of trucking efficiency. It’s not just about getting products to the customer as quickly as possible, it’s about taking the best route to get them there — literally and metaphorically.

Due to our mission of sustainability, we were also able to not only stay open but also thrive during the Covid-19 pandemic. This was a hard time for so many people, and we’re proud that our drivers were able to help keep the world moving by delivering essentials to customers all over the 48 states that we serve.

In the future, it’s only going to get better for us, our drivers, and our customers.

Closing Thoughts

When it comes to building a company or looking for one as a potential client, you don’t want to jump straight to the bottom of the barrel. There’s probably a reason that some services are priced at the bottom of the market.

At the same time, however, affordability is important. As a company that’s been built up for nearly a decade, we’ve been all over the market and are slowly honing in on that perfect balance of affordability and incomparable quality.

Our services are also constantly changing and evolving, just like the times that we live in. We’re building a special client base with a special pool of drivers, and we’re to have you coming along for the ride.
